Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek is one of the most exciting and underrated trekking routes as it explores the remote civilization as well as the natural beauty of the Khumbu region. Renjo La pass lies at an elevation of 5340m is one of the three high passes of the Khumbu region which lies close to Tibet. The trekking route of Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek is completely different from Everest base camp trek as it explores the diversified landscape, snowy mountains, terraces, valleys, lakes and unique culture and tradition of Everest region. The majestic and panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Pumori, etc offers a remarkable and unforgettable experience of trekking at Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass for a lifetime.

Commencing from mountain flight to Lukla for 35 min, trekking starts through rocky trails featuring the lush forest of blue pine, juniper, lifestyle and culture of the Sherpas of Namche bazar, Thame and Gokyo valley as it reaches Renjo La pass which offers excellent views of mountains and Gokyo lakes. The panoramic views of mountains including Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, etc relish trekkers worth it. The trekking ends at Lukla covering Dole, Thame villages of Khumbu region and flies back to Kathmandu.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal!!!! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet and greet our representatives and a brief description of Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek. Check-in at Hotel. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu if you have time.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Explore the ancient city of Kathmandu along with the four UNESCO World Heritage sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square; an ancient Malla Kingdom, Pashupatinath; a holy temple of Lord Shiva, Boudhanath; the largest Buddhist stupa, Swayambhunath; the oldest and hillock Buddhist stupa. Roam around the streets of Thamel.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Early morning Mountain flight to Lukla and observe the aerial view of Mountain ranges including Mt. Everest and other peaks. Enjoy the diversified landscape and climate. Upon arrival at Lukla, trek to Phakding through the bank of Dudh Koshi River and crossing many suspension bridges and diversified landscape the trail ascends uphill leads to Phakding (2652m).

Walking time: 3 to 4 hours.

From Phakding, walk across the bank of Dudh Koshi river crossing the long suspension bridge. The trail ascends uphill to Monjo; the gateway of Sagarmatha National Park and passing through the lush green forest of Silver fir, Blue Pine, Juniper leads to the most famous Sherpa village Namche Bazaar at an elevation of 3440m. Namche Bazaar is also known as the Gateway to Everest and is the main tourist hub of the Khumbu region.

Walking Time: 6 to 7 hours.

Since this is your acclimatization day, explore Sherpa Museum at Sagarmatha National Park. After exploration, short walk uphill leads you to twin village of Khunde and Khumjung and furthermore of the walk leads you to Everest view hotel from where you can observe the close-up views of mountains, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, Tawache, etc. Return back to Namche Bazaar via Syangboche. Roam around Namche Bazaar in the evening.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

The trek ascends uphill passing through the dense forest of Blue pine, Juniper and Rhododendron trees with a chance to witness animals like Himalayan Tahr, Spotted deer, etc. till we reach Sansa; the place where the route of Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass separates. The trail is not as crowded compared to the Everest base camp trail and you can observe the diversified landscape, dense forest, and rural Sherpa villages. The uphill trail passing many yak pastures leads you to Dole (4200m) and observe the majestic views of Thamserku and Kangtega.

Walking Time: 6 to 7 hours.

Leaving tree lines, the trail ascends steep uphill through barren lands and pastures lead to Labharma. Observe the beautiful Himalayan ranges en route and climb alongside the valley leads you to Machhermo (4400m), a beautiful Sherpa village with an amazing view of Mt. Ama Dablam.

Walking Time: 4 to 5 hours.

From Machhermo, trek to Gokyo Lake at an elevation of 4700m. The trail moves into the valley on an easy terrain and starts getting steeper from Gokyo First and Second Lake. Furthermore, of walk lead to Gokyo Third Lake (4700m); Dudh Kunda, a holy place. Short descend downhill on its eastern shore leads to Gokyo village.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

Early morning hike at Gokyo RI (5360m) which is the highest elevation of Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass. Enjoy the spectacular views of Mountains above 8000m including Mt. Everest (8848m) and crystal clear water of six Gokyo lakes. Continue hike to Gokyo fourth and fifth lakes as well in order to get closer views of Mountain ranges. Descend downhill to Gokyo village and observe the culture and tradition of local Sherpas.

Walking Time: 3 to 4 hours.

From Gokyo, trek to Lunden via Renjo La Pass at an elevation of 5340m. The trail ascends uphill being more challenging with steep climb leading Renjo La Pass. Observe the panoramic views of Mountain ranges including Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, etc. Then trek downhill passing a small glacier lake towards the pristine valley of Lunden (4300m). Explore the old Tibetan Trade route on the way to Lunden.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

From Lunden, the trail descends downhill and en route we can observe the Tibetan trader encampments and enjoy the picturesque views. Following the bank of Bhote Koshi river lead to the beautiful Thamel valley. Explore Thame Monastery in the evening.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

Trek to Namche Bazaar is quite easy as the trail descends downhill all the way to Namche bazaar crossing several beautiful villages like Samde and Thamo village. Explore the World’s highest hydroelectric power station built with the help of Austrian. Furthermore of the smooth walk leads to Sagarmatha National Park and then to Namche Bazaar (3440m). Roam around the monasteries and gumbas in Namche Bazaar.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

The trail descends downhill to Dudh Koshi River leading you to Monjo; the Gateway of Sagarmatha National Park passing through a forested area of pine, juniper and Rhododendron trees. Crossing several suspension bridges on the way and walking along the bank of Dudh Koshi River leads you to Jorsale. After 1 to 2 hours of walking on the flat highlands, observing the mountain views on the back leads you to Lukla, the last destination of your Gokyo Lake Renjo La Pass Trek.

Overnight stay at Lukla.
Walking Time: 6 to 7 hours.

Take an early morning flight to Kathmandu as early morning weather is best if you are flying in higher altitude. Observe the aerial views of Mountain range including Mt. Everest, diversified landscape and dense forests. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your respective hotel by our representatives. Remaining day free for self-relaxation.

An extra free day in Kathmandu will be very exciting as you can roam around Kathmandu yourself or sightseeing at Patan Durbar Square. Explore the fine art and architecture and beautiful handicrafts. Roam around the streets of Thamel at Evening and Overnight at Kathmandu.

Free till departure. Check-out from the hotel. Our representatives will drop you to Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours prior to your departure time to board your onward journey.
