Trip Overview

Located at the Langtang region of Nepal, Naya Kanga Peak (5844m) is a climbing peak rising to the west of Ganja La and south of Gosaikunda Lake; a holy lake of Hindus and Buddhist. The Naya Kanga Peak climbing offers the villages influenced by Tibetans in the Langtang region with a wide range of biodiversity, flora and fauna and several snow-capped mountains including Langtang, Yala, Dorje Lakpa, etc. The Naya Kanga Peak is an exceptional option for trekkers and mountaineers as the trail is well-maintained. Situated very close to Kathmandu valley, Naya Kanga Peak is the nearest and can be reached with relative ease. Walking along the beautiful forest of rhododendron and oak forest and enjoying the landscapes, exploring the Buddhist culture, monasteries and gombas, beautiful waterfalls, glaciers including Gosaikunda lake etc are the highlights of Naya Kanga Peak Climbing.

Starting from sightseeing at UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu followed by a scenic drive to Dhunche. Passing through several villages like Syabru Gaon, Lama Hotel, Ghoda tabela, leads us to Langtang village. Exploring the culture of local people, continue trek to Kyangjin village and explore Kyangjin gompa; the biggest gompa of Langtang region. Furthermore, the trail leads us to Naya kanga high camp and finally summit the Naya Kanga peak. Observe the majestic view of several snow-capped mountains including Langtang Lirung, Yala, Dorje lakpa and several mountains of Tibetan plateau along with the stunning views of Kyangjin Gompa, and Gosaikunda lake. The trail descends down to Nyengang Kharka and passes through the villages like Kyangjin, Lama Hotel, Sherpa Gaon and to Syabrubesi from where we drive back to Kathmandu. 

Naya kanga Peak offers the picturesque sceneries of snow-capped mountains as well as the landscape and culture of local Tamang people. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport.

Welcome to Nepal. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu meet and greet our representatives from Moonline Tours P. Ltd and transfer to the hotel. Short description of Naya Kanga Peak and the trail to reach at the summit enroute. If you have ime, roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

Guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites including: Kathmandu Durbar square- an ancient courtyard with monuments and temples from centuries back, Pashupatinath- a holy temple of Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva, Swayambhunath- an oldest Buddhist stupa at the hillock and Boudhanath- the largest Buddhist Stupa with its unique octagonal shape. Remaining day free for self-exploration and relaxation.

Scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River and observing the local settlements and landscape, the rough route leads us to Dhunche. Upon arrival at Dhunche, explore around.

From Dhunche, the gradual and gentle walk through the off-road route leads us to Syabru Gaon at an elevation of 2581m. Observing the landscape areas and the stunning views of mountains, we will reach Syabru Gaon. Syabru Gaon is the beautiful village at the ridgeline that separates Trishuli River and Langtang Khola. Roam around Syabru Goan to observe the mesmerizing views of Langtang Lirung, Tibetan ranges etc.

Walking Time: 5.30 hours

The trail descends along the ridge to Gopche Khola and to the landslide area. Afterwards, the trail gradually ascends uphill to Rimche village. Walking through the terraced framlands and along the bank of the river leads us to Bamboo and furthermore of ascend uphill leads us to Lama Hotel. Observe the varieties of flora and fauna enroute.

The trail gradually ascends, offering the spectacular view of Langtang Lirung leads us to Ghoda Tabela. Passing several streams, small waterfalls and meadows and walking along the rhododendron and oak forest. The narrow trekking trail becomes wider as we reach Langtang village. Roam around the monasteries and gompas at Langtang Village. Explore the culture, tradition and lifestyle of local people. Observe the houses made with flat-roofed, influenced by Tibetan people and observe the village is surrounded by stone-walls.

Walking Time: 6 hours

From Langtang Village, the trail gradually ascends uphill. Passing through the several villages, crossing several streams, water mills, pastures and terraced farmlands leads us to Kyangjin at an elevation of 3870m. Explore the monasteries and gombas around and culture, tradition and lifestyle of local people. Observe the majestic views of snow-capped mountains including Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, etc.

Walking Time: 3 hours

Acclimatization is very important if you are travelling from lower altitude to higher altitude in order to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Since we are at an elevation of 3870m, today is a rest day at Kyangjin. Explore around Kyangjin Gompa and several other monasteries. Short hike around Kyangjin village for the acclimatization process.

From Kyangjin, following the trail of juniper and shrubs, the trail descends a little towards Langtang Khola. After crossing the suspension bridge over Langtang Khola, the trail ascends uphill along with the spectacular view of Langtang, Yala, Dorje Lakpa, etc with an opportunity to spot varieties of rare flora and fauna leading us to Nyengang Kharka at an elevation of 4430m. Explore around in the evening.

Walking Time: 5 hours

Leaving Nyengang Kharka behind, following the steep trail ascending uphill leads us to high camp. The rocky icy landscape and walking along the steep trail with the beautiful views of snow-capped mountains with medium difficulty level leads us to Naya Kanga High Camp at an elevation of 4960m. Observe the panoramic views of Himalayas.

Today, we will start to walk early to reach the top of Naya Kanga Peak. The steep and icy uphill trail passing several glaciers and ridges leads us to the top of Naya Kanga Peak at an elevation of 5844m. Observe the majestic view of Sunrise over Himalayas and the panoramic view of Himalayan ranges including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Sisapangama, and several glaciers. After observing the mesmerizing beauty for some more time, descend down to Nyengang Kharka via Naya Kanga High camp. Remaining time rest at Nyengang Kharka as we have a long day today.

Walking Time: 10 hours

This is an extra day for incase if the weather is bad and we may extend a day to reach the summit of Naya Kanga Peak. If the weather is bad, we will wait for a day and if the weather is good, we will be summit Naya Kanga Peak at the scheduled time/itinerary. And if you have any kind of physical/ health problems, we can shift the itinerary to next day.

From Nyengnag Gompa, the trail descends downwards towards Langtang Khola. After crossing the suspension bridge over Langtang Khola, the trail gradually ascends uphill, observing the beautiful sceneries that lead us to Kyangjin Gompa. Explore around Kyangjin gompa in the evening.

Walking Time: 4 hours

Retracing the trail and walking along the bank of Langtang Khola leads us to Langtang Village. Furthermore, descending downward passing Ghoda Tabela, terraced farmlands and forest of rhododendron and oak leads us to Lama Hotel. Roam around Lama Hotel in the evening.

From Lama Hotel, the trail descends steeply down towards Syabru bensi. Passing the Sherpa and Tamang villages like Sherpa Gaon and walking along the riverside leads to Syabru Besi. The main habitants are Tamang in Syabru Besi.

Scenic drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu. Driving along the bank of the Trishuli River several times, observing the terraced farmlands, local settlements and diversified landscapes leads us to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, check-in at the hotel. If you have time, roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening for refreshment and relaxation.

Since today is your last day at Kathmandu, free till departure. Our representatives from Moonline Tours P. Ltd will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours prior to your departure schedule to board your onward journey. With lots of memories from Naya Kanga Peak Climbing, we bid you “Goodbye”.
