Trip Overview

The “Tamang Heritage Trail” is an exciting trekking route between Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Tamang Heritage Trail offers a rich culture and tradition of Tamang, beautiful and stunning views of the Himalayas and adventurous trekking experience as you reach the Tamang hamlet. Explore the ancient gompas, Buddhist prayer rocks and colorful prayer flags that signify the culture and tradition of local Tamang people near the Tibet border and the culture influenced by the culture and tradition of Tibetan Buddhist people. Tamang is an ethnic group hugely settled in the lap of Langtang range and is considered to be migrated from Tibet during the 7th to 8th centuries. The warm hospitality and local cuisines of Tamang people will make your entire Tamang Heritage Trail trip awesome and memorable.

The Tamang Heritage Trail starts from sightseeing in Kathmandu including Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. Kathmandu is culturally and historically rich as well as observe the cultural diversity. After sightseeing in Kathmandu valley at the UNESCO heritage sites, scenic drive to Syabrubesi. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River observing the lush green forest, diversified landscapes and local settlements with mesmerizing views of the Himalayan range. Passing through the beautiful villages of Gatlang, Tatopani leads us to Nagthali. The trail descends downwards passing the beautiful villages of Thuman, Briddim, and ultimately to Syabrubesi. Drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi ending our Tamang Heritage Trail.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet and greet our representative from Moonline Tours P. Ltd and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening, if you have free time.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Guided sightseeing tour in four UNESCO World heritage sites including; Pashupatinath; a holy two-storied temple of Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva at the bank of Bagmati River, Swayambhunath; an old Buddhist stupa at the hillock in the outskirts of Kathmandu with cultural importance for both Buddhist and Hindus, Boudhanath; a largest Buddhist stupa in the outskirts of Kathmandu and an important pilgrimage sites of Buddhist and Patan Durbar square; an ancient courtyard with rich and unique art and architecture. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

Scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River leads us to Syabrubesi via Kakani in the north of Kathmandu. Enjoy the picturesque views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal along with the diversified landscapes. Passing through several villages’ leads us to Syabrubesi; the gateway to Langtang Valley. Explore around Syabrubesi in the evening.

Driving Time: 6 to 7 hours/ Local bus.

From Syarubesi, trek to Gatlang at an elevation of 2238m. Climb uphill that leads us to Ronga Bhanjyang and enjoy the stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Sishapangama and Langtang range. The trail descends downwards to Goljung village; a small village with picturesque views of mountain ranges. Following the trail leads us to Gatlang village; a traditional Tamang village at the hillside. Explore around Gatlang village in the evening.

Overnight at Gatlang.
Walking Time: 5 hours.

Leaving Gatlang village behind, the trail descends till we reach Thambuchet. Observe the magnificent views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang range. Following the trail ahead leads us to Chilime village and observe Chilime Hydropower dam on the Bhotekoshi River. Crossing the suspension bridge, the trail ascends uphill offering stunning views of the Himalayan range leading us to the beautiful village of Tatopani; a village popular for natural hot springs. Explore around Tatopani or take a dip in natural hot springs for relaxation.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

From Tatopani, the trail ascends uphill passing through the dense alpine forests leads us to Nagthali; an open grassland that provides mesmerizing views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen range. After spending some more time at Nagthali, the trail descends downwards leading us to Thuman village; another Tamang village with people who follow Tibetan culture and traditions. Explore the Buddhist monastery in Thuman and overnight at Thuman.

Walking Time: 7 to 8 hours.

From Thuman, following the ancient trail used for trading purposes from Tibet to the Timure village and passing the ancient and historical Rasuwagadhi Fort leads us to Briddim at an elevation of 2229m. The trail is easy and passes through the Rhododendron forest. Briddim is a typical Tibetan village located at the lap of Langtang Himal with houses made up of stone. Explore the monasteries and gompas at Briddim including the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of local people.

Walking Time: 4 to 6 hours.

Leaving the beautiful Briddim village behind, the trail descends downwards passing through lush green and deep forest that leads us to Lama Hotel. Passing through the beautiful Tamang villages, terraced farmlands and meadows enroute leads us to Syabrubesi at an elevation of 1450m. Roam around Syabrubesi in the evening.

Walking Time: 4 to 6 hours.

From Syabrubesi, drive back to Kathmandu via Kakani and observe the magnificent view of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal enroute. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, check-in at the hotel. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening and overnight at Kathmandu.

Driving Time: 6 to 7 hours/ local bus

Since today is your last day at Kathmandu, free till departure. Our representatives from Moonline Tours P. Ltd will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours prior to departure schedule/ time to board your onward journey.
