Trip Overview

Tilicho Lake, situated at Manang district at an elevation of 4920m in the Annapurna range of Himalayas. Passing through the subtropical countryside, alpine forests, and over Thorong La Pass, this trek is quite challenging and surrounded by mountains. Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek offer diversified landscape and natural beauty of the Annapurna region of Nepal. Tilicho lake trek is one of the most popular side hikes of the Annapurna Circuit treks. The major attraction of Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek are Tilicho Lake, Tilicho Base Camp, Thorong La Pass, Muktinath; a holy place of both Buddhists and Hindus and Pokhara; a beautiful city of lakes.

Tilicho Trek and Round Annapurna Trek is a 19 days program starting from Kathmandu sightseeing: four UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Drive to Besisahar of Lamjung and then to Syange and trek to Dharapani. Then passing Chame, Pisang, Manang, Kangsar and Tilicho Base Camp. We require adequate acclimatization at Manang as our body needs to adopt the change in altitude. From Tilicho Base Camp, hike to Tilicho Lake and observe the panoramic views of Khangsar, Muktinath Peak, Nilgiri, and Tilicho. Return back to Tilicho Base Camp and follow the route of Annapurna Circuit trek to Muktinath crossing Yak Kharka, Thorong La, and Thorong Phedi. Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek take you to the rural and untouched natural beauty and villages. The journey ends at Pokhara and drives back to Kathmandu.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1338m/ 4390 ft.)

Welcome to Kathmandu (1338m/ 4390 ft.), Capital city of Nepal. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet and greet our representatives of Moonline Tours P. Ltd. Transfer to Hotel en route short description of your journey to Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek. Check-in hotel.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Guided tour to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu including the historical palace; Kathmandu Durbar Square, a holy temple of Lord Shiva; Pashupatinath, one of the oldest stupas at the hillock; Swayambhunath, and the largest Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath. After sightseeing, short pre-trek meeting with your trekking guide and prepare for your Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Early morning drive to Besisahar and then to Syange (1100m/ 3600 ft.). The road trip offers many more to explore including the green and lush forests, terraced farmlands, diversified landscapes, and fast-flowing rivers. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River leads to Mugling; where two rivers Trishuli and Marsyangdi confluences and crossing the Marsyangdi bridge further drive to the west leads to Besisahar. The amazing views of landscape can be witnessed after we move ahead of Besisahar to Syange, passing through the terraced farmlands and if the weather is clear, observe a beautiful view of the Manaslu range.

From Syange, the trail uphill and downhill leads to Chamje and passing through the suspension bridge and dense forest of Oaks, you will notice the change in landscape as you walk through narrow routes through villages and waterfalls. Furthermore of the walk leads to the village of Tal and following the trail crossing several suspension bridges leads to Dharapani (1860m/ 6100 ft.).

Walking Time: 6 to 7 hours.

From Dharapani, you will notice the change in vegetation and landscape as the air gets cooler and thin. Walking through forests before reaching Bagarchap observing the beautiful view of Mt. Annapurna II (7937m). Passing through the farmlands, orchards and beautiful Pine forests with an amazing view of Lamjung ranges along with Mt. Annapurna II, the trail then follows the upstreams of Marsyangdi River as you pass Ranamanang and Koto villages. An easy walk from Koto leads you to Chame at an elevation of 2710m.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

From Chame, following the trail in the northern bank of the river passing through Pinewoods and small villages with gentle uphill and downhill leads to Brathang village. Crossing several suspension bridges and uphill climb through pine forest leads you to Upper Mustang and you will notice the change in climate and vegetation. Walking in the shadow of Annapurna II brings us to Lower Pisang and a more uphill walk leads you to the beautiful Pisang village at an elevation of 3300m/ 10824 ft.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

Start your trek observing the beautiful views of snow-capped mountains at the rain shadow of Annapurna II. The short gradual uphill walk offers beautiful views of valleys and Hongdre village and also observes the mesmerizing views peaks like Gangapurna, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Tilicho and Pisang peak. Trek downhill all the way to Hongdre and then to Bragha, the village dominated by the oldest monastery of the region which is more than 500 years old and following the trail leads you to Manang at an elevation of 3540m/ 11611 ft. Roam around Manang village and explore the monasteries and gumbas.

Acclimatization is very important if you are trekking from lower altitude to higher altitude in order to remain fit and active during your Tilicho Lake and Round Annapurna Trek. Spend the day exploring the monasteries and short hike to Gangapurna Lake. Return back to Manang village and observe the beautiful view of peaks including Annapurna II and Annapurna III. Roam around Manang village in the evening.

Walking time: 3 to 4 hours.

From Manang, follow the route of Annapurna Circuit Trek until you reach the last village of Manang from where the trail separates. Cross the river in the southern direction and passing through the coniferous forest leads to Khangsar. Crossing the Khangsar Khola in the bridge and steep uphill ascend leads to Khangsar village.

Walking Time: 3 to 4 hours.

From Khangsar, following the large path passing a monastery en route the trail leads you to the recently constructed path towards a high ridge. Following the new path, you will reach the top of the hill and descend downhill through scree slopes towards the valley until you reach Tilicho Base Camp at an elevation of 4150m/ 13612 ft.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

The trail to the Tilicho Lake starts with an upside valley then traverses onto a moraine, doing a long climb to 4710m. There is an outstanding view of Tarkeghyang, Gangapurna, and the Khangsar Kang. Walking through the loose cress slopes and passing many small glaciers en route leads to Tilicho Lake at an elevation of 4920m. Sometimes it's turquoise water reflects the surrounding peaks but more often it’s frozen solid. Exploring some time at Tilicho Lake and observing the beautiful view of Tilicho, Nilgiri, Muktinath peaks. Return back to Tilicho Base Camp via the same route and overnight at Tilicho Base Camp.

Walking time: 7 to 8 hours.

From Tilicho Base Camp, the trail continues to climb out of the Marsyangdi valley and passing through the ruins of old Khangsar village before you cross a wooden bridge that lies in between Gumsang and yak Kharka. Observe the meadows filled with grazing Yaks and horses en route. Little more walk following the route leads you to the yak grazing ground of Yak Kharka (4110m/ 13484 ft.)

Walking Time: 6 to 7 hours.

The trail from Yak Kharka leads to a small climb to reach the last settlement of Ledar. Offering great views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tiliche, and many other peaks ascend uphill along with the barren lands before reaching Thorong Phedi at an altitude of 4600m. Some trekkers walk furthermore uphill to High camp so that trekking the next day will be easier for them. Rest at Thorong Phedi and

Walking Time: 3 to 4 hours.

Start your trek early in the morning as you have to go a long way today. Climb the steep trail all the way till you reach the top marked by chortens and colorful flags at an ultimate elevation of 5416m in Thorong La Pass and observe the stunning views of Annapurna, Damodar, Dhaulagiri range. Gradual descend through steep slopes passing the snow leads you to one of the most sacred temples of Hindus and Buddhist; Muktinath (3800m). The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu along with 108 waterspouts.

Walking Time: 7 to 8 hours.

From Muktinath, we descend down passing several streams and hills over to Kagbeni. Explore the stupas and monasteries in Kagbeni and furthermore of the walk leads to Jomsom (2700m), passing the windy area on the Kali Gandaki valley. Roam around the gumbas and monasteries of Jomsom in the evening.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

Early morning flight to Pokhara and enjoy an aerial view of Mountain ranges, landscapes, and dense forest. Upon arrival at Pokhara, check-in at Hotel. Take a rest for some time and proceed for Pokhara Sightseeing: Phewa Lake, Devi’s fall, Gupteswar Cave, World Peace Pagoda, etc. Roam around the lakeside in the evening.

Overnight at Pokhara.

Today is a free day if the flight from Jomsom is delayed or any problem arises during trekking and if everything went smooth, another extra day in Pokhara for sightseeing which is very relaxing after a long trek.

Early morning, drive back to Kathmandu. It will take 7 hours to reach Kathmandu to Pokhara and enjoy the terraced farmlands, landscape, green forests, and fast-flowing rivers. After you reach Kathmandu, check-in the hotel. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Free till departure. Our representatives will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours prior to your departure time in order to board your onward journey.
