Langtang Valley Trek is the best trekking route to observe the snow-capped mountains, rich culture and Himalayan lifestyle close to Kathmandu valley. Langtang Valley Trek is a short trek in the beautiful Langtang valley that lies on the northern side of Kathmandu Valley and on the southern slope of the Tibetan plateau. The natural beauty is still intact and untouched as the trail is not as crowded as that of the Annapurna region and Everest region. The stunning views of snow-capped mountains including Langtang range, hills of Mahabharat range, waterfalls and streams, monasteries, gompas and wonderful opportunity to spot rare flora and fauna- musk deer, wild dog, monkeys, red panda, Danfe among others. The trail offers a wide variety of Rhododendron forests, huge Bamboo forests, and beautiful landscapes. Explore the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of local people following Himalayan Buddhism similar to that of Tibet.

Langtang Valley Trek starts from sightseeing in Kathmandu at four UNESCO World heritage sites including- Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath; a largest Buddhist stupa with more than 200 monks praying at its surrounding in the outskirts of Kathmandu. After sightseeing, drive to Syabrubesi and trek to Lama Hotel. The trail crosses several beautiful villages like Mundu, en-route and offers stunning views of the Himalayan range. From Mundu, the trail leads us to Kyangin Gompa and Kyanjin Ri or Cherku Ri. The trail descends downwards to Lama hotel and to Syabrubesi from where we drive back to Kathmandu.

Being so close to Kathmandu valley, the trails of Langtang valley is still intact and untouched though they offer picturesque views of snow-capped mountains, lifestyle, and culture of local people, and several monasteries and gompas. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/ 4265 ft.)

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet and greet our representatives from Moonline Tours P. Ltd and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel. If you have free time, roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu at four UNESCO World heritage sites- Kathmandu Durbar Square; a culturally and historically rich courtyard with monuments from the 13th to 15th century, Pashupatinath; a holy temple of Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva at the bank of Bagmati River, Swayambhunath; an oldest Buddhist stupa at the hillock and an important pilgrimage site of both Buddhist and Hindus and Boudhanath; a largest Buddhist Stupa at the outskirts of Kathmandu with more than 200 monks praying at its surrounding. Roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

From Kathmandu, drive to Syabru Bensi. There are two options to reach Syabru Bensi; one via Kakani and other via Galchi. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River several times leads us to Syabru Bensi at an elevation of 1462m. Observe the picturesque views, diversified landscape and local villages en-route. Roam around Syabru Bensi in the evening.

Driving Time: 7 hours/ By Bus

The trail ascends uphill through terraced farmlands and the forest of Oaks, Maple, and Bamboo with an opportunity to spot several animals like Himalayan black bear, Wild boar including an endangered Red Panda. Crossing several streams and suspension bridges and passing through several villages and walking along the Langtang river several times leads us to Lama Hotel at an elevation of 2500m.

Walking Time: 5 hours.

From Lama Hotel, the trail ascends uphill passing through the dense forest and walking along the bank of the river several times leads us to Ghodatabela; a checkpoint of Langtang National Park. Continue the trail for furthermore ahead leads us to a wide valley. Observe the water-driven mills, yak pastures, Mani walls and praying flags that represent the Himalayan culture and tradition. Passing the stream leads us to the beautiful Langtang village; inhabited mostly by Tamangs and Sherpas. Following the trail ahead leads us to Mundu at an elevation of 3430m and observe the Mani walls and praying flags en-route.

Walking Time: 5 hours.

Leaving Mundu behind, trek to Kyangjin Gompa; a famous Buddhist monastery of the Langtang region. The trail passes several water mills, yak pastures, Mani walls and prayer flags including the largest Mani walls of Nepal, made from stone with prayings written on them. Following the trail leads us to the last village of Langtang- Kyangjin Gompa. Explore the monasteries, gompas, yak cheese factory, culture, and lifestyle of local people. Observe the close-up views of Mt. Langtang Lirung.

Walking Time: 2 hours.

As today is exploration day at Kyangjin Gompa, a short hike to Kyangjin Ri or Cherku Ri. A hike to Kyangjin is easy and most popular among trekkers as it offers amazing views of the Langtang range and several snow-capped mountains with less effort and time. But if you want to observe the spectacular views of Langtang range, and glaciers Cherku Ri is the best option at an elevation of 4984m. Hiking at Cherku Ri needs more effort and time. Return back to Kyangjin Gompa for overnight stay. 

Walking Time: 7 to 8 hours

Leaving Kyangjin Gompa behind, following the same trail we have used to reach Kyangjin Gompa, descend downwards through dense forest and passing several villages leads us to Lama Hotel. Walking along the bank of Langtang River, observing the diversified landscapes, and passing villages like Mundu, Ghodatabela and crossing several streams leads us to Lama Hotel. Explore around Lama Hotel in the evening.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

From Lama Hotel, the trail descends down through the dense forest of Oaks, Maple, huge Bamboo forest and terraced farmlands with a chance to spot wild animals and birds. Crossing several suspension bridges and walking along the bank of the river leads us to Syabru Bensi at an elevation of 1462m.

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

From Syabru Bensi, drive back to Kathmandu. Driving along the bank of Trishuli River several times and observing the picturesque scenery, diversified landscapes and dispersed local settlements leads us to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, check-in at the hotel. The remaining day roam around the streets of Kathmandu in the evening.

As today is the last day, free till departure. Our representatives from Moonline Tours P. Ltd will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours prior to your departure time/ schedule to board your onward journey.
