As Toni Hagen a swiss geologist, who travelled extensively in Nepal had written: “ Pokhara area shows the greatest contrast in landscape. Nowhere in the world can the highest mountains reaching 8000 meters level be admired from such small distance and from the tropical low land without  any intermediate mountain ranges. Pokhara is certainly one of the most extra ordinary and beautiful places in the world.”

Pokhara is in the Lap of some of the greatest Himalayas in the world which is why we can see beautiful panoramic views of Mt.Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt Manaslu and many more. Sarangkot is one of the best places in Pokhara where we can view Himalayas, Lakes and the whole area of Pokhara  as it is situated in the hilltop. Just to add some more, Pokhara is situated at the perfect location where we can view Mt. Fishtail, and Annapurna from such close balanced distance.

Lakes is another reason why Pokhara is famous for. It is a perfect destination for people to take a break and relax in a calm fresh water lake. Even the name “Pokhara” is derived from the word “Pokhari” which means lake. There are many lakes in Pokhara namely; Dipang lake, Rupa Lake, Maidi Lake, Khaste  lake, Gunde lake, and the most Popular Phewa lake.Medicinal, Herbal plants and sub-tropical  green forest around this area makes the surrounding atmosphere more hygienic, colorful and lively. Garden of seven lakes, 15 km east from Pokhara is also a worth visit place. These lakes are also famous for Boating/sailing, Fishing, and more.

There are lots of limestone caves as an interesting part of geological study. The exterior of the caves are well designed with beautiful architecture. Some of the famous caves are Chamero cave, Gupteshwor mahadev cave, Mahendra cave, and more.

Pokhara is blessed with lots of temples and monuments. Most of these temples are  located in beautiful places where we can see beautiful view of Pokhara valley and the mountains. Just as; Barahi Temple is located  on a small island in the middle of beautiful Phewa lake just offshore from the lakeside. Some of the important heritage sites of Pokhara are ;Bindhabasini temple, World peace pagoda, Barahi temple, gupteshwor mahadev situated deep inside a big cave, Bhadrakali temple, and Buddhist monastery.

Museums:

There are  lots of museums in Pokhara which has an exceptional collection of mountaineering related things, reflecting ethnic mosaic, collection of birds, and lot more, which you have to come and explore yourself. Some of the Popular museums of Pokhara are: International Mountain museum, Regional Museum, Annapurna Museum, Gurkha Memorial Museum.
